Line Editing
What is line editing?
Line editing focuses on how your story is told.
Once your story's structure is in place, line editing helps refine the writing itself. We'll look closely at sentence flow, clarity, tone, word choice, and readability to ensure your prose feels polished and engaging.
The goal isn't to change your voice. It's to strengthen it, helping your writing communicate exactly what you want readers to experience.
When should you choose line editing?
Line editing may be the right fit if:
Your story structure is solid, but parts of the prose feel awkward, repetitive, or flat.
You're unsure whether your writing flows naturally from one sentence to the next.
You want to strengthen your voice, improve readability, and create a smoother reading experience.
You're ready to move beyond story-level revisions and focus on the writing itself.
My Process:
Line editing includes two read-throughs with one revision stage in between.
First Pass: I review your manuscript and provide detailed edits and suggestions focused on clarity, flow, tone, sentence structure, and word choice.
Revisions: You revise the manuscript using the feedback and suggestions provided while maintaining your unique voice and style.
Final Pass: I review your revisions, ensuring the manuscript reads smoothly and consistently while catching any remaining language issues or awkward phrasing.
What you’ll walk away with:
Stronger, more engaging prose.
Improved clarity and readability.
A more consistent narrative voice.
Thoughtful suggestions that enhance the reader's experience without changing your style
