Proofreading

What is proofreading?
Proofreading is the final stage of the editing process before publication or submission.

At this point, your manuscript should already be revised and edited. Proofreading focuses on catching the small errors that can still slip through, including spelling mistakes, punctuation issues, grammar errors, formatting inconsistencies, and other surface-level problems.

The goal is to ensure your manuscript is as clean, consistent, and professional as possible before it reaches readers.

When should you choose proofreading?

Proofreading may be the right fit if:

  • Your manuscript has already been through revisions and editing.

  • You want a final review to catch lingering typos, grammar issues, or formatting inconsistencies.

  • You're preparing to publish, submit, or share your manuscript with readers.

  • You'd like an additional quality check before your book goes live.

My Process:

Proofreading includes one thorough review of your manuscript.

I carefully review the manuscript for spelling, punctuation, grammar, formatting, and consistency issues. Where appropriate, I also check for alignment with The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) to help ensure a professional final product.

What you’ll walk away with:

  • A cleaner, more polished manuscript.

  • Corrected spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.

  • Improved consistency in formatting and style.

  • Greater confidence before publication or submission.

Investment:

Proofreading starts at $0.008 per word.
